The Human Side of a CIO: V.S. Parthasarathy Raises Rs. 1.39 Cr For Girl Child Education

Why should the triple bottomline of People, Planet and Profit be restricted to only Corporates? Why can’t it be imbibed by individuals?

Showing a rare ability to embody personal leadership in the triple bottomline, V.S. Parthasarathy, Group CFO and CIO, Mahindra & Mahindra has been running the prestigious Mumbai Marathon for last five years for a cause. The cause is to support Project Nanhi Kali, an initiative taken by K.C. Mahindra Education Trust (KCMET), in 1996 to provide quality education to underprivileged girls in India.

Joining the extraordinary league of fundraisers, who are taking action to improve the community, V.S. Parthasarathy is the highest fundraiser (in the individual category) raising a whopping INR 1.39 Crores for the noble cause this year.

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you! I took up the challenge of educating the girl child. I made a choice to walk the talk and chose to ‘Run’ for this noble cause. I strongly believe that this cause will help children learn and grow independently and create a bright future for themselves,” said Parthasarathy.  Last year, he took the challenge to raise INR 50 Lakhs and with an overwhelming response, was able to raise over INR 72 Lakhs at the Tata Mumbai Marathon 2018. This amount helped in educating 1,722 Nanhi Kalis.

“This year I’d set a new challenge – to raise INR 1 Crore to help educate over 2500 girls. I was confident that the society will help me rescript the destinies of the disadvantaged girls across India,” he said.

Since its inception, Project Nanhi Kali has supported the education of more than 350,000 underprivileged girls across the country and is currently reaching out to more than 154,000 girls in 11 states. The project is jointly managed by K.C. Mahindra Education Trust and Naandi Foundation to provide 360 degree support which allows a girl child to access quality education, attend school with dignity and complete 10 years of schooling.

V.S. Parthasarathy will be felicitated for this remarkable achievement in the annual Philanthropy Awards Night of the Tata Mumbai Marathon scheduled on 30 April 2019 at The Royal Opera House, Mumbai.

This is remarkable and inspirational. It is also a testament of an individual’s commitment towards providing quality education to young girls in India.

Join DynamicCIO in congratulating V.S. Parthasarathy for his ongoing noble mission.
