The e-Waste (Management and Handling) Rule of 2011 will come into effect on May 1, 2012. It mandates government departments and producers of electrical and electronic equipment to take responsibility for the collection of e-waste produced while manufacturing or after the use of the products, thus, putting the onus on the producers to manage e-waste.
